We believe the Bible is the Word of God in written form. Because the Bible is God's Word it is absolutely trustworthy in everything it teaches, and absolutely relevant to every part of our lives. For this reason
teaching God's Word and applying it to our lives is one of our highest priorities. God created us, and explains in the Bible how he wants us to live -- living God's way pleases Him, and brings us great
pleasure.
We are a 'confessional' church. This means we have a written document that states concisely what we believe the Bible teaches. In the case of the Presbyterian Church, our 'document' is called the Westminster Confession of Faith. It certainly is not equal with the Bible in authority, but helps us understand the Bible.
It was written in Westminster Abbey in 1648, by a large committee of church leaders. The fact that we still use it today is a tremendous testimony to the timelessness of what it teaches, and to the biblical insight
and wisdom of the people who wrote it.
